Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel sent a letter to Mr. Ivan Sotirov, President of the Friends of Chicago Foundation, to express his confidence and support for the activities of the organization. The Mayor’s letter, dated September 10, 2011, says: “Dear Mr. Sotirov, As Mayor and on behalf of the City of Chicago, I write to congratulate you on the continued success of the organization you have founded, Friends of Chicago. The support you are building for the cooperation between Chicago and Bulgaria will be beneficial for many of our citizens, and I am confident the experience and knowledge you gained during your time in Chicago as Consul General of Bulgaria will be invaluable as you continue to work to promote exchange between Chicago and Bulgaria. We value the relationship we share with your great nation, and I look forward to strengthening the ties between us. 2012 Shel Silverstein Poem Translation Competition has been announced, and anyone who is excited to make their own translation of the suggested poem from English into Bulgarian could participate in it. The translated poem has to be emailed to: rcdnes@gmail.com by June 1, 2012. Winners will receive their prize on June 22, 2012.
