Chicago Days are co-organized by the Friends of Chicago Foundation, Sofia City Hall and the Embassy of the United States. Media partners are Darik Radio, Bulgaria SEGA Weekly – Chicago, BG7 Radio – Chicago and EuroChicago.com. Held just before the 4th of July for the third consecutive year, Chicago Days benefit from people-to-people diplomacy to promote Bulgarian-American friendship and cooperation and to provide public support for establishing a sister cities relationship between Bulgaria’s capital Sofia and Chicago.
Philip Simmons, American composer and conductor, is Artistic Director of the American Music Festivals. In the essay, he shares his inspiring experience of almost ten-year-long cooperation with Bulgarian musicians from Sofia, Razgrad and Varna.
An awarding ceremony will be held at the American Corner in Sofia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. The winners in 2013 Shel Silverstein Poem Translation Competition, announced for the third consecutive year by the Friends of Chicago Foundation and the American Corner at the Sofia City Library, will receive their prizes.
Brenda Tooley: "I look forward to a return to Bulgaria to see good friends and supportive, entrepreneurial colleagues.
